Currently I think the plan is to start a game on the 21st.

The game will be from 1PM est - 5PM est


If people think this should be shorter, longer, or slightly bumped up or down you can mention that here.


Your signup should look like this:
Steam name:
color: (row), (column)


Here's my signup as an example:

Edit: I'll include some settings/rules info as well


There will be no fallen empires, no advanced AI, AI will be at normal difficulty. FTL is restricted to hyperlanes only, and using jump drives on your ships is disallowed (The AI still can, but there probably won't be much AI by the time jump drives are a thing).


Size of galaxy depends on how many players sign up but at minimum it would be 600, with 800 being probable.

I like the Idea of hyperlanes to havce structure in the map, but from what I found in my play, they really give a large advantage to agressive play while punishing pacifist play.

I pretty much agree with Noones here. I don't like hyperlanes just because of that, someone being stuck and even worse being xenophile/pacifist. I know Guren you're gonna say WELL BUILD TALL but what guarantees that if there is a giant player next to you he won't eat you. Also Jump drive being disallowed kind of sucks for people being tech focused but that I can let go if everyone really wants hyperlanes only.

No fallen empires, it would be kind of cool to have them at least 1 game and try it out. There's a crisis with when fallen empires awaken and then there can be a giant war between the 2 of them. Kind of wanna see that but if it's for sake of balancing it's whatever.

As for NoOnes: There isn't really any situation where pacifists can't be hardcore punished. If you're a pacifist you're not supposed to be expanding very much anyways, and if you get stuck in a corner you're very likely to be able to join a federation or some big alliance. Even the game we just did you could've easily joined a federation of 2 others and I wouldn't of been able to attack, significantly slowing my growth.



The way I see it: Tall empires get a significant power spike at perk 3 (which I guess we can call mid game), while wide empires are strong early and late.


And Otto: We don't need to post portraits really because that is significantly easier to fix in lobby than colors. If you understood portraits very well you could also start playing meta depending on what others pick: For instance I can be quite certain that if Holo picks the aliens he usually does that he's building tall and becoming robots, other people can be quite certain that if I pick the birds I picked last time I'm being fanatical purifier.

I meant fallen empire without hyperlanes, and I already said I get it why you don't want them. They just add nice flavour.

I think you should have both hyperlanes and warp enabled, but ban wormholes and jump drive.
