I saw this tweet from EU IV

Should we not update to 1.21 or is it worth chancing? I think its some issues with Hungary being changed.

Also might as well ask now but I will need a sub on May 6th for Cologne.

They added provinces so it's possible it will break the saves. When's it do to release? We could test if it ck.es out early enough.

I tested it and while the save loads fine, the new provinces are treated as impassible regions which really screws up Eastern Europe. So we will have to revert to 1.20.x for the game on Saturday.

You can use console commands to reclaim them.

colonize provID (colonizes for the tag you're in)
culture provID (gives the primary culture of the tag you're in to the province)
change_religion provID

Then populate it with 1444 development.

I can't speak for all of the GM's, but I don't think that is a good solution, because province changes are a big deal to have new ones added mid game. They represent a buff to a nation and region that wasn't there when people signed up for the game. Thus I think its in bad faith to arbitrarily buff a player mid game, and personally I see if along the lines of changing a rule mid game - you shouldn't do it.
